Description

A stoneware vase by John Dugger (American b.1948). The vase, entitled "Grenade", shows a crouching soldier holding a hand grenade. It is inscribed and dated 1973 to the underside in pencil. The vase measures 24 cm high.

In 1972, Dugger became the first American to visit China since the Cultural Revolution in 1949. Whilst in China he studied traditional landscape paintings meeting, and being influenced by, artists such as Sung Wen.

He exhibited this piece in London at his exhibition "John Dugger Ergonic Messenger" where it was listed for sale as "Grenade" at a price of £1800.00.
