Description

An Early 18th Century English Oak Chest of Drawers of Panelled Construction.

The chest of four graduated drawers with brass drop handles and cast escutcheons. Each drawer front panelled and moulded and with further panelled details to the sides. The top is of planked construction with a moulded, overhanging edge. The oak has attained a lovely colour with plenty of variation in tone which is extremely attractive. The chest stands on two baluster - type feet to the front and there is a central moulding separating the piece in to two parts which is decorative and also a sign of early manufacture.

This fine chest is an excellent example of provincial furniture from this period and much more decorative than the usual oak chest that is usually encountered.
