Description
An impressive and high quality English Victorian skeleton clock. An original glass dome to the stepped marble base standing on feet. A gilt dial with Roman numerals signed 'HOPWOOD GLOUCESTER'. Blued steel 'moon' hands. An 8-day duration fusee mechanism with passing strike on a bell. Circa 1880.Robert Hopwood of Gloucester is recorded in Dowlers' 'Gloucestershire Clock & Watchmakers Book' as working from 1875-1880.
