18th C. Porcelain Dish with Rosewood Display Table

Description

This fine and very rare 18th C Porcelain Japanese blue and white large dish is dated to 1740, and as it was a prominent and important piece, was later inset into a display table built especially for it, C. 1840. The plate features a wide border of flowers, with a central image of a vase, filled with floral buds and bonsai stems. The table is rosewood, with an ornate ormolu trim around the outer edge and supporting legs. The table measures 27 in – 68.6 cm in diameter, with the plate diameter 21 ½ in – 54.6 cm and a height of 32 ¼ in – 82 cm. This lovely and unique item would make an outstanding decorators’ piece, in a wide range of settings both contemporary and traditional.
