Description

Early nineteenth century mahogany stool legs, stamped James Winter and sons, 101 Wardour street, Soho that have been mounted on a later traditionally crafted mortice and tenoned beech frame. The crisp carving on the legs and the choice of beautifully figured mahogany is of the highest quality as one should expect from a top London cabinetmaker. The mahogany legs are finished with quality original brass castors. The tufted deep buttoned stool is traditionally upholstered using horsehair and thick calico and is ready to be upholstered in your choice of fabric.
James Winter was one of the most renowned London cabinet makers from 1823 – 1870. The firm were based in Wardour street from 1823 before relocating to No. 151-155 after 1840.
