Description

Good George III mahogany stick barometer by Singer of London, c.1810.
The mahogany round topped case having herring bone veneers to the front with edge moulded trunk, the dial of the barometer being protected by an hinged glazed door. The silvered dial is engraved with a 27"-31" scale, typical weather indications and the maker's name 'Singer, London' and fitted with a manually operated vernier.
The exposed tube is fitted with a portable boxwood cistern concealed behind the turned mahogany hemispherical cistern cover.
