Description

A superb and large pair of sculptures depicting the Madonna with child and Joseph.

Crisply carved and signed P J DAPRÉ, the Madonna dated 1935 and Joseph being 1953.

Standing at over 1metre tall these figures make an impressive display. Our research has uncovered other works by the brothers Dapré, Pius and Lois, their works being mainly created using Canadian Pine.

Presented in untouched condition, some movement to the timber as to be expected, losses to the foot and fingers of the infant child and evidence of old repairs.
