This is a fine example of the Guy Rogers of Liverpool low-back New York lounge chair. It has been refurbished and reupholstered (before it came to me) in hard wearing (Welsh) wool from Melin Tregwynt woollen mill, Pembrokeshire, in a very attractive pattern. Personally I prefer it to single colourways available originally.

The New York chair was from a statement range and probably designed by Eric Pamphilon (director of design) and/or George Freyer for Guy Rogers, the largest and best-known makers of furniture in the 1960s, sold in high end retailers across the country.

The frame is very strong and probably in afromosia. The design allows each element to flow into the next that gives a very evocative look. One of the best armchairs from the best period and manufacturer of what we now call mid-century furniture.

An elegant piece and in very good immediately usable condition.
