Signed 'coustou'

The original, larger than life, pair of hourses were carved in marble by Guillaume Coustou in 1739-45 for the horse pond of Louis XVs chateau at Marley-le-Roi and were inspired by the colossal pair of Horse Tamers in Rome which were copied from the Greek originals.
