The maker`s mark - JYC for John Yeomans Cowlishaw
Market Street, Sheffield.
A very good, large fruit knife in little used condition.
The blade opens and closes correctly - only just snaps at 180 degrees,90 degrees, and snaps closed. It was quite stiff from lack of use, but is improving.

Attractive shaped Mother of Pearl scales to both sides, with deep engraving. Silver hinge facings. No silver cartouche. .
Excellent hallmarks and clean deep thumb nail groove.
Little used condition, but some shallow scratching of the blade - bad cleaning. 149 years old.

Open length:- 143 millimetres.
Closed length:- 85 mms.
Knife weight:- 24.1 grams.
