Description

The large rectangular overmantle mirror having the original rectangular heavy glass plate surrounded on four sides by the pine frame with moulded borders, corners and reeded decoration, the lower edge with extended shaped mouldings, surviving from the zeniths of the nineteenth century.

The original mirror plate has some attractive foxing, mainly prominent to one area, but just the right amount to serve for character with a good spread of sparkle. The original pine back panels are all present and she remains sturdy, with only slight movement, and having mounting brackets for direct wall mounting.

Overmantle mirrors are a fantastic way of showing a mantelpiece off, due to their lower edge being more slight, though can make any wall or fireplace the central feature in any room. In this example the lower edge has elongated shaped mouldings which would essentially helped the mirror blend into the mantelpiece whilst providing some additional support.

Perfect for the Victorian or Edwardian period house, hallway, or fireplace, landing or bedroom.
