Early 19thC Estate Made Painted Pine Cupboard

Description
The mauve over combwork painted pine carcass, almost certainly estate made and of the Georgian period, of tack or housekeepers cupboard type proportions, having two fielded paneled cupboard doors opening to reveal an interior of three shelves, to a long lower drawer and plinth base, surviving in unrestored condition from George III period England. The piece shows some attractive wear and tear with scuffing and losses commensurate with its age with the whole in largely original order and with the carcass structurally sound. The knob handles are later and have been matched in and the escutcheons are also later. There is some loss to the moulding edges to the top.
Finding an estate made Georgian period piece such in a painted finish is always pleasing in its own right, with the original combwork finish used to imitate a more exotic wood and the later Victorian paint over the top now nicely worn. This example would work well to store any number of items and was probably used as a piece in the scullery or as a tack room piece.
A useful and attractive piece of period painted furniture in a good size.
