Description

The wonderfully decorative mid-century advertising kiosk sign for ice creams, in fibreglass and pressed card, centered on a young boy enjoying a three scoop cone, a lolly and a whippy ice cream, greedily clutching all three as he licks one, the whole with paint losses showing the blue base colour, and surviving from mid-century Belgium.

This piece doesn’t suffer from any major losses and its paintwork being chipped only adds to its decorative appeal. We have added a hook to the reverse so it can be wall hung.

Ice lollies and choc ices on sticks became a major market during the 1960s. In the UK these were mostly produced by Walls and Lyons Maid. A never-ending supply of ‘with it’ names were now required, among them Fab, Kinky and Zoom.

A great bit of fun, encapsulating the greedy kid in us all, and perhaps, ever so slighty, disconcerting.
