Description

The good quality one piece ebonised arcaded wall cabinet, having nine arcaded openings with moulded architectural borders, with a recently added hard felt carded back, the interior with three shelves, one to each level, to a plinth base and corniced top, the whole surviving Victorian period England.

The cabinet is in good stable and useable condition, with a new back added, there is sporadic old worm to the timber. It may be that it never had a back panel and used the wall as its back in the past. There is wear to the extremities making it very decorative.

This unusual piece may have been part of a larger piece of furniture such as a dresser or acting as one side of a larger cabinet. The arcades are Georgian inspired and are very effective in this format.

Seemingly a one off, and whether used to display precious mementoes or bathroom ointments, so very mysteriously beautiful.
