Description

The charming lead sculpted figure of an African nile crocodile, freestanding with an open mouth baring its teeth, showing a good patination to the lead, and surviving from the early to middle part of twentieth century England.

The figure is in stable overall order and appears to be unsigned. There is a nice patination with some discolouration and established wear commensurate with being stood part sheltered outside for a number of years and he proves tactile as a result. The tail has been repaired and there a couple of other small historic repairs with some small damage to the underside.

Crocodiles are among the oldest creatures on earth, having existed in their present form for around 200 million years. The last survivors of giant reptiles that once dominated the earth, they seem at once very ancient, very wise, and profoundly dangerous

Well worth snapping up.
