Description

The cloth bound handle with double loop ends, one suspending a chain terminating with punch struck hexagonal weight. Nine section chains were the standard for flails and this example is no different, the whole in very sound condition, whilst the cloth handle is a particularly nice feature as it has remained in tact.

Kau Sin Ke were produced mostly in iron for fighting and for strengthening the wrist, and they date from the antiforeigner movement in China the Boxer Uprising, 1898–1900.
