Description

The comfortable country house upholstered wingback armchair or easy chair being beautifully shaped with a kinked back and flared wing back, the whole coil sprung and horsehair stuffed, on walnut ring turned front legs with rear sabres to brass and ceramic castors, fully reupholstered in Wemyss’ midnight navy velvet with buttoned arms and single piping throughout, the whole surviving from the zeniths of the nineteenth century.

The condition of the chairs is fantastic, having been fully reupholstered. All of the original horsehair and innards to the upholstery has been retained. It proves comfortable and the frame has been tightened. There is some light evidence of old worm to the rear legs.

This chairs wonderful shape is quite unusual, it is somewhat of an amalgamation between an easy and wingback chair, with the wings not so much flared but flowing gently into the rolling arms. It proves comfortable and it would be a good chair for a read.

Sumptuous curves, a real delight on the eye and indeed the derrière.
