Early 18th Century Carved Oak Caryatid

Description
Early 18th century carved oak caryatid depicting fertilitySuperbly carved in great detail.
The piece being of deep relief and historically probably part of a larger piece.
It has been professionally mounted on a period piece of old oak for support & display.
There is a small ring to the top making it ready to display.
Wonderful to have a piece, of this quality presented so well and in such good condition.
The photos do not do justice to the gorgeous patina.

A caryatid is a sculpted female figure serving as an architectural support taking the place of a column or a pillar supporting an entablature on her head. The Greek term karyatides literally means "maidens of Karyai", an ancient town on the Peloponnese.
