Description

Large African ceremonial tribal bronze goblet,c1920. Most probably from the Tikar tribal area (Cameroon) this is a highly stylised ,heavy (1.8kg), well cast example which would have had significant ceremonial importance. The main body is profusely decorated with snakes, spiders, lizards and tribal motifs. The 3 stylised handles are in the form of birds eating frogs. Standing on a decorative base it has taken on great colour/patina and is an imposing piece of tribal art. Overall condition is good in line with age and use.
