Description

Large late 19th century Chinese bronze container,c1880. This is an unusual piece and I am not sure of the purpose. There is a square hole on one side and on the other a metal sliding cover with a removable metal holder with holes along the body, so possibly for tea or hot coals? It has lovely form and shape with a highly stylised carrying handle and nice decorative panels around the body . There are character marks to the base. The metal has taken on good colour/patina and it displays well. Overall condition is good with no obvious issues.
