Description
Large 19th century Indian statue of a processional Elephant with Mahout and Howdah,c1890. This is a large and heavy example ,weighing 3kg. I think it is brass but given the weight it could be bronze with a brass finish? This is a much copied statue but this example clearly has age and quality. The casting of the elephant, Howdah and Mahout figure is fine with good detailing. The metal has taken on a nice colour/patina following many years of use and handling.
