A rare patterned,classically Art Deco, early Clarice Cliff Breakfast Set of twelve pieces. The soft pastel colours are reminiscent of the Sundew or Honeydew designs.
Clarice went to work in the potteries at the age of 13 but after a few years in Tunstall she moved to Wilkinson in 1916. This offered her new career opportunities and recognising her talent and enthusiasm the head of the Wilkinson factory sent her to The Royal College of Art to study for three months and then on to Paris to take in the new fashions. On returning to Wilkinson she was given her own studio and a team of girls who could paint her patterns. Clarice Cliff soon became a household name though still in her twenties.

All twelve pieces of this set are well marked, and some have numbers painted on and others have impressed number 36.

This particular set had been a wedding gift for the original owners and has never been seen for sale prior to this. A remarkable opportunity to add not one, but twelve pieces of Art Deco to your collection.
