Description

An elegant slim longcase clock, the dial signed for Redshaw of Newcastle Under Lyme, Stafordshire. There were several makers with this name working in Newcastle Under Lyme in the 18th Cent.

The lovely slim case is in oak, it is a lovely colour and has retained its original finish. The long trunk door has a working lock and key.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart brass dial with silvered chapter ring and gilt brass spandrels.

This clock probably started life with a 30hr movement but at some time in its life this has been replaced with a more accurate and longer duration 8 day movement. This was a common period modification.

The case is in excelent condition. The movement is a bit dusty but it is in good working order and keeping good time.

The maximum dimensions are:

213cm (84") high
51cm (20") wide
28cm (11") deep
