Description

Small medieval style tapestry wall hanging. 30" x 37" panel featuring a printed design of a courtly couple before a wooden arbour over which grow vines hung with large bunches of grapes. In the foreground is a low woven picket, flowers and several small creatures. A detail from a much larger 15th.c. German tapestry known as 'The Garden of Love'. Printed in various colours against a lovely mustard coloured ground. Stitched outlines and details highlighted with gold thread. Within a decorative applied border and velvet edge. Hung with matching loops from a reeded brass rail with turned finials. Excellent condition.
