Description

MOVEMENT Nice gilded verge movement, with blued screws and pierced and engraved balance cock.  It is signed (Johnson, London) and numbered (1809).  Very nice condition with the gilding still bright and very few scratches.  All is original and it is running well.

DIAL The white enamel dial is in good condition with just some light surface scratches and one hairline running from 9 to the centre.  Good original 18thc beetle and poker steel hands.

INNER CASE Gilt on brass.  Good condition though the gilding almost complete except for wear on the pendant and bow.  The crystal is fine.  The hinge and catch are also fine and the case snaps shut nicely.  There is a small hole on the back next to the winding square, where there would originally have been a rivet attaching a cover for this winding aperture.

OUTER CASE Gilt on brass.  Excellent condition, with even wear to the gilding.  The hinge, catch and button are fine.  Closes nicely.  This outer case contains a charming hand painted watch paper.
