Here we have a wonderful and rare Sarcophagus shaped Killarney Yew wood Jewellery or sewing box c1870. As you can see the box has fantastic colour and patina. The top has beautiful inlaid Shamrocks and connecting branches with raised cartouche centre with chequered inlay. There is a string inlaid border and a thumb moulded edge to the lid. The stunning sarcophagus shaped sides also have a double banded chequererd inlay and a thumb moulded base. Internally there is wonderful Victorian paper lining. We have a mirror plate for the underside of the lid. A super rare period box in great retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 30 cm wide 25 cm deep 12 cm high.
