The mirror features a circular, outward-curving (convex) mirror plate set within an ebonized (blackened) inner slip and a deep, ornately carved giltwood frame. The use of a convex mirror was popular during the Regency period not only for its decorative appeal but also its ability to reflect and amplify light, making rooms feel larger. The frame is heavily decorated with elaborate carvings in a neoclassical or rococo style, featuring scrolling acanthus leaves at the base and a decorative surmount at the top, likely a stylized shell or foliate motif.
