Offered for sale is this good set of ten mahogany Chippendale style dining chairs dating to about 1900 and consisting of eight single and two carver chairs. The chairs have a shaped and carved back rail above a pierced and carved centre splat over newly reupholstered drop-in seats with molded seat rails above carved cabriole supports with acanthus carved shoulders and ball & claw feet. The chairs are in fact a harlequin set consisting of a set of four single and two carvers along with a matched set of four singles. The only differences are the slightly different shaped carving on the top rail and topof the legs, the rest are identical. The differences would not be noticeable with the chairs around a table. The four singles were part of a set of six including two carvers that will be offered separately but could make up a harlequin set of twelve with four carvers. The chairs are offered in excellent showroom condition with all joints firm and the woodwork cleaned, revived and waxed. The seats have been newly reupholstered and covered in a neutral gold John Lewis fabric.
