Description

Good set of eight mahogany Chippendale style dining chairs by the reknown London company of James Shoolbred & Co. The chairs consist of six single and two carvers with shaped back rail and a pierced centre splat with newly reupholstered drop-in seats above square supports with carved corner brackets. The chairs have a makers plate.
James Shoolbred & Co were operating from an address in Tottenham Court Road, London from the latter part of the 19th Century and were described by the Art Jounal as " Eminent among the most extensive cabinet makers and upholsteres in England".
