Description

Fine example of a late 19th century patinated bronze of the 'Aphrodite of Doidalses' or 'Crouching Venus', the goddess of love, after the 1686 version in the Palace of Versailles by Antoine Coysevox (1640-1720) and now on permanent display in the Louvre, Paris. Other versions on dispaly include Medici in the Tribuna of the Uffizi the Museo Nazionale delle Terme, Rome the Vatican Museums British Museum and the Royal Collection. Good size, well cast example.
