An unusual 19thc bronze and brass, desk or table match safe / vesta in the form of an owl, with glass eyes, perched with open wings on a pedestal surmounting a dish on bun type feet. No visible markings. Head is hinged and lifts to reveal a compartment for matches.Date19th Century :
