Description

A quality heavy cast 19th. cent. bronze bas-relief of a section of the Athens Frieze. Possibly by the Barbedienne foundry. Dimensions of the plaque are 21 x 31 cms. excl. the frame and 42.5 x34 cms. overall. In a red velvet and gilt border within an ebonised antique frame. A sharply defined cast with a part Greek inscription featuring John Henning who produced numerous reproductions of the Elgin Marbles. Excellent condition and good patination.
