R.B.kitaj (Ron Brookes) 1932-2007 highly listed American painter and graphic artist, trained at the royal College of Art in London,active mainly in England,where he has been a prominent figure of the Pop art movement .
He was a friend of David Hockney at the Royal College of art and showed in the Young Contemporaries exhibitions at the RBA Galleries and the Marlborough Gallery and New London Gallery and the Venice Biennale he was also a friend of Jim Dine and Andy Warhol. In 1968 a retrospective exhibition of his graphic work was held in Stuttgart, Munich,Dusseldorf,and Lubeck and Bonn Germany,he showed in the show titled "Pop Art in England" which was held at Hamburg, Munich,and New York.
In 1978-79 he concentrated entirely on drawing using models and drawing in pastel.The above print being taken from one of his pastel drawings circa 1970. R B K itaj Has Work Held In Most Important Fine Art Galleries and museums around the world including the Museum Of Modern Art New York and is one of the leading international artists of the 20th century.
A second Retrospective was held at the Tate London in 1994 before the second retrospective was moved to the museum of modern Art in New york and Los Angles in 1995
This impression is a signed print from a rare low ltd edition publish circa 1970 .
