Nelson Dawson 1859 1941 pencil signed dry point etching of Robin Hood`s Bay Scarborough pencil signed and with a pencil dedication to his wife Edith Dawson nee Robinson below the plate mark.
This lovely Nelson Dawson marine etching of Scarborough is framed in a simple black frame.
Nelson Dawson is a listed artist he was born in Stamford in lincolnshire and was a leading figure in the Arts and Crafts movement influenced by William Morris as a artist & designer and enameller metal worker he also worked with his wife Edith Dawson they both developed a distinctive style of crafting and designing arts & crafts metal work designs for jewellery, architectural fittings, & decorative items.
After the 1st world war Nelson Dawson returned to painting and etching he printed his own etchings in very small low editions of 20 to 50 impressions.
The British Museum holds a large collection of etchings by Nelson Dawson as does Stamford Museum.
Nelson Dawson was an Associate of the Royal Society of Painters in Water-Colours.
