Trench art cigarette case art deco original world war 2 sweetheart designed alloy aluminium cigarette case

made from alloy possibly from a shotdown aircraft the case is hand made to a high quality and was brought back by a uk serviceman at the end of world war 2. This uk service man was in action in the desert and italian campaigns of world war 2 he brought it back for his wife at the end of the war. The case has the couples initials engraved to the inside with another scene house / cottages set in a uk landscape with lucky horse shoe

the alloy cigarette case has a very art deco cut out / pierced design of 2 lovers embracing with a owl on a tree to one side

the other side of the case has a middle eastern scene of a mosque & palm tree both scenes have coloured bakelite or a type of early plastic inset to the decoration

the condition is excellent for age the quality of the handmade craftmans ship is extremely good the case opens and closes with a strong snap the case is still highly usable as a cigarette case. It may possibly have been made in a german or italian prisoner of war camp for uk prisoners of war. Or possibly made in a british army or raf workshop in the middle eastern desert or italian campaign of ww2

the case is approx 6 inches long by 3 1/2 inches
