Description

An exceptionally well made Cotswold style bureau made by "Nailman". The bureau was probably made just before WW2 judging by the quarter-sawn cut of the wood and weight of oak used.We do not know who "Nailman" was but he was obviously a good craftsman and he was familiar with the work of the early critters like "Mouseman" Thompson. There are unusual decorative dovetail joints at the top and decorative doweling down the sides. The bureau door is decoratively carved with two rows of what looks like medieval church windows and the feet are also carved. There is a nail signature carved into the wood on the bottom right side of the bureau. There is a key for the top compartment.
