A fine 8 day longcase clock by Samuel Collier of Eccles .The very attractive dial is by James Wilson of Birmingham and steel hands are original.Good eight day movement having been serviced in 2008.
The Oak and mahogany case is very typical North West in style and a very good colour and in excellent condition .Above the dial is a glass verre eglomise panel which is finished off with a swan necked pediment .
Samuel Collier was born in 1750 at Gatley, and worked as a clock maker in Eccles until his death in 1816. He comes from a clock making family and many examples of their work is known.
