Description

An embossed fire mark for the Guardian Assurance company. By the 20th century so called 'Fire Marks' were falling into disuse and whilst in the last century the pressed variety were of copper these were now enamelled tin and thus less enduring. This is one of these in tantamount to mint new condition as it was never used. Furthermore it can be exactly dated as 1932 on account of it retaining a good deal of its original packing and manufacturer's label.
Never repainted and colours as bright as the day it left the Carlisle factory where it was made. Measures something over 9 by 8 inches overall.
