Description

Ancient folk art walking stick depicting who?....the maker's wife, the village crone? She's no beauty perhaps but her surprised open mouthed expression, enhanced by glass eyes, as she peeps out from beneath her bonnet give her a somewhat whimsical look. For certain she is well over 200 years old but very probably she dates from the 18th century. Despite a few (historic) worm holes and evidence of of some damage to the upper right brim of her bonnet this a sturdy stick with good patina and an extremely old, if not original, ferrule.
