Description

A Late Elizabethan Oak Boarded Chest.

Of plain boarded construction with chipped carved ends to the front sides and top of lid the sides which retain there full height with cusped arch cut outs with chamfered edge the front of the legs with scratch carved x double underlined.

In good solid condition the lid has split at some time but not seperated and has been recently braced with small iron strips and the hinges are 18th century replacements ,the original ring hinges are still in the back apart from that in untouched original conditioncondition .

Good dark redish colour with good colour and patina.

As mentioned earlier this small chest stands at its original height at 22.5"

40" wide

14" deep.
