Oil Painting by Gordon Davies – Garden Flowers
A large and impressive oil on panel signed by the artist (upper right). Housed in its original pitch pine frame the picture is exquisitely painted and extremely decorative and would be perfect for a large Kitchen or Dining Room.

Frame: 29 1/2 x 37 3/4 in. (75 x 96 cm.)
Davies was one of a group of talented artists from East Kent. He had an extraordinary breadth of gifts, able to turn his hand to any facet of the creative visual arts. He was a most distinguished designer (for Sanderson’s wallpapers), a painter (frequently exhibiting at the RA and elsewhere), muralist, illustrator (for Profile Publications), cartoonist (for?The Eagle), with side-lines as a ceramicist (with Rye Pottery) and as an author (he published?Painting in Acrylics?in 1991), who kept a studio in Sevenoaks until 1967, when he moved to Ashford in Kent. He and his friends John Ward and Gerald Norden travelled often to Italy, where Davies would paint scenes of the local surroundings, which he exhibited regularly at the RA until 1989. His work can be found at the University of Bristol, Canterbury City Museum and Wolfson College, Cambridge, among other institutions. John Ward’s daughter Celia said that ‘He was a very unusual man, the most light-hearted of the group, and one of the funniest people that I have ever met, yet immensely knowledgeable about the decorative arts, with a great capacity for friendship’. CONDITION AND PRESENTATION
In our description, if a picture is shown to be framed then the frame will be included with the sale of the picture. Unless stated otherwise all unframed watercolours, drawings and prints have been mounted onto acid-free conservation board using either Japanese hinging paper or reversible wheat starch past. Unframed and mounted pictures are then wrapped in clear polyester film to protect both the picture and the mount. All conservation work has been carried out by accredited conservators.

If the purchaser can find a fault (by way of a photograph) as proof of damage in transit that is not present in our promotional photo i.e. a tear in the canvas, broken glass, broken frame, damage to surface of picture, then a full or part refund will be offered back to the purchaser depending on the extent of the damage. This will only apply within 24 hours of signing for the parcel.
If the parcel has arrived and appears to be damaged in some way please return the parcel to us (unopened) and we will refund the purchase price on receipt of the picture.
If the purchaser can prove with written evidence from three independent experts that our description was false or misleading in any way then a full refund will be offered back to the purchaser.
