This absolutely stunning large kitchen island, has an amazing history! Originally from the foundry that made the rivets for the Eiffel Tower, Titanic, and Sydney Harbour Bridge, it has been completely dismantled, sensitively restored, and is now ready for a new life!
We were lucky enough to salvage the last remaining 3 benches from this foundry - 2 of them have now sold, but we still have one left. As you can see from the photos below, the 2 sold benches were different sizes one with 3 drawers, and the other with 2. The last bench available can be made to a bespoke size, depending on your requirements. Please contact us to discuss.
These extremely heavy benches have substantial, beautifully designed industrial cast iron legs at either end.
They have been adapted to a true kitchen island, with 2 or 3 working "through" drawers, which are accessible from each side, and have original handles
The tops of the original benches had seen better days, so we have added new tops, made from steel, which has been aged, and then specially treated, so is protected and suitable for kitchen use.
