This is a Bottle (about half full or half empty!)of Luton Straw Hat Dye---Luton being the prominent place as being so many Straw Hat Makers in years gone by! It was made by a company WHITAKER & CO (KENDAL) ENGLAND. A clear glass bottle with a cork stopper and cream paper labels. The bottle is rectangular in shape with a narrowing neck and an indented panel at the back. One of the labels is around the neck of the bottle while the other on the Front which is readable. The bottle is still 1/3 full of a dark brown liquid. Inscribed on the top label, around the bottle's neck, is the dye colour: 'NIGGER BROWN. Printed on the lower label is: 'LUTON STRAW HAT DYES' in addition to the instructions detailing how to use the object and the manufacturer's name and address. This bottle was manufactured by 'WHITAKER AND CO. (KENDAL) Ltd' and is in good condition. This is from between the years of 1890 to 1910. A very Rare item--hence the price!
