A superb pair of Louis XVI period Chenets or firedogs with associated fire basket .A fairly rare pair of ormolu Chenets depicting winged cherubs (putto)sitting on plinths cloth draped round the loins and warming there hands on braziers ,they are both in different pose in there hands and legs the braziers with circular gadrooned body on tripods with goats feet the plinths are rectangular form with leaf banding above drapery swags hanging from rings the base with a rounded decorated fruit and floral ribbon tied swag with central sunburst of an Apollo sun god mask all standing on four tapering baluster shaped legs
The fire basket can sit on the irons or in between them depending on the width of the hearth
