Description

A william and mary period lace box 1689 -1702. The box has an oyster veneered top with concentric boxwood banding, and figured walnut veneered sides. The lid lifts up to reveal a purple velvet interior with fitted slots and pin cushion and a small drawer (one drawer missing). There would have originally been a mirror fitted beneath the lid, but this has been replaced at some stage with a classical 19th century ink drawing/ engraving , which looks well suited to the box.

The box has some cracking to the veneers, some old restorations, commensurate with age, but its in good condition for its age.
