Description:
This is a fine quality English Art Deco satinwood cocktail cabinet, constructed with a “skyscraper design” and escalloped doors, circa 1930, attributed to Harry & Lou Epstein Ltd., in excellent condition. This Art Deco furniture is decorated in stunning satinwood timbers and constructed in the shape of a “skyscraper”, with a taller central section, flanked by two lower side sections – classic Art Deco design. The use of satinwood is deemed a more superior timber than the more ubiquitous walnut, in Art Deco furniture. This Art Deco satinwood cocktail cabinet features a moulded breakfront centre, comprising two horizontal upper doors, which open in a metamorphic fashion, to reveal a mirrored interior. The roof section is hinged and when it is opened, it activates the interior light, which illuminates the central well. The horizontal glass tray also extends outwards at the same time. The roof is furnished with a glass juicer bowl and two sets of three cocktail sticks and the juicer bowl. The interior has been re-lined with new bevel glass panels. A new light fitting has been installed and the electrical cabling re-wired, tested and a new UK plug fitted, to ensure the electrics are in excellent safe working condition.
Below, are two larger doors, which open to reveal a large storage area, containing bottle holder floor, which is designed to fit cocktail / wine bottles. The central section is also flanked by two stunning escalloped doors, containing a pull-out mahogany-lined drawer at the top and a central shelf below. The doors and drawer are decorated with the original cream Bakelite handles. The doors also retain their original metal sliding door bolts, with the original working brass lever locks (with key). The Art Deco drinks cabinet stands on its original shaped block plinth.
The Art Deco drinks sideboard boasts classic Art Deco styling this is evident in the curved corners and clean lines. The drinks cabinet is solid in joint and ready to use.
The Art Deco satinwood cocktail cabinet boasts a rich walnut colour this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received. The Art Deco walnut cabinet is an excellent investment and would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the living room. It would certainly grace any home. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of history.
