Description

A George IV English Oak Davenport. This super quality davenport made in solid Oak with striking pale colour and original finish. The 3 graduated drawers all Mahogany lined with original locks, Ebony handles and escutcheons. The original leather fall lifts up to reveal an arrangement of drawers and braided letter holder. Too one side there is a pen drawer and slide both with original Ebony handles, to the opposite side is a pull out slide and 3 graduated dummy drawers. Panelled to the front and back and raised on stunning reeded bun feet with original inset castors. Incredibly rare to see this Gillows model in Oak, stamped Gillows . Lancaster, Circa 1830.
