Thought to be painted by Byne. Indistinct signature. Oil on canvas Good picture of the hulk of a warship in Plymouth harbour. The washing line on the hulk gives it a real feeling of being lived on and harks back to the days when Napoleonic prisoners were housed on these old hulks prior to being transferred to Dartmoor Prison. Hulks figure large in the penal history of England and this is a wonderful depiction.
