Description

Royal Worcester "Fruit" side plate.
Hand painted and signed by Leighton Maybury.

Leighton worked at Royal Worcester until the early 1950s, after which he became a freelance artist/decorator.
His work was varied and included not only "Fruit" designs, but also birds, horses, landscapes and portraiture.
Leighton died in March 2013, aged 83.

The black backstamp dates the plate to 1954.

The plate is approximately 16 cm in diameter (6.25").

Very good condition ... no chips, cracks or crazing.
There are a couple of very minor nicks to the painting. These are away from the central picture and really have to be observed through a magnifying glass to be seen.
