Description

Superb Chinese champlevé vase dating from the early to mid 20th Century in mint condition.

Highly decorative garlic-neck vase with a floral design comprising bands of alternating pale pink and blue flowers separated by narrow plain or geometric bands.

Champlevé is a technique in which the troughs are cast into the metal body and filled with vitreous enamel. It is distinguished from the technique of cloisonné enamel in which the troughs are created by soldering flat metal strips to the surface of the object. This vase is a particularly fine example of champlevé work.
